Get Spooky In Southeast Michigan
During the month of October, Southeast Michigan can be pretty haunting! Halloween brings out the best and scariest attractions throughout the area.

If costume parties are your thing, make sure you check out The Crofoot’s Creepy Cheapy on 10/24. It’s one of the biggest Halloween parties around – there will be multiple floors of local musicians covering your favorite famous bands. Last year, they had cover bands of everyone from Daft Punk to Beyonce. Costumes are mandatory and the tickets are a measly $5!

Another infamous Detroit Halloween party is Theater Bizarre. On 10/18, this Masonic Temple spectacle takes over multiple floors and offers spooky entertainment on each one. The tickets are a little pricier, but worth every penny!

There are also local parties at bars all around the area. For example, the Majestic’s costume party on 10/31 and costume contests in downtown Royal Oak at Fifth Avenue and O’Tooles.

For your trick or treating needs, check out Clawson and Ferndale on 10/25 and Royal Oak on 10/26. All three cities offer trick or treating to costumed kids throughout their downtown areas. Businesses will be passing out candy, doing face painting, and more! Royal Oak also offers the Zoo Boo event at the Detroit Zoo on weekends throughout October (10/10 to 10/12, 10/17 to 10/19, and 10/24 to 10/26). You can meander through a half mile trick or treating trail complete with games and live music.

Another great trick or treating option is visiting your favorite state park – many are having fall and Halloween festivals full of trick or treating, costume contests and pumpkin carving.
Finally, you have to check out Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village with your family. For three weekends in October (10/10 to 10/12, 10/17 to 10/19, and 10/24 to 10/26), the Village is taken over by jack o’ lanterns, classic costumes and even a headless horseman!

If the weather gets a little chilly, you can step inside to see the best horror movies in some cool theaters around the area. The Main Art Theater in Royal Oak is known to play scary movies every Friday and/or Saturday at midnight. The Redford Theater has a few horror flicks lined up, including a Three Stooges Halloween Festival on 10/10 and 10/11. Finally, be sure to check out  Evil Dead The Musical at The City Theater this year. If you sit in the first couple of rows you will get blood squirted on you!

Finally, you have to be sure to visit some haunted houses. One of the most well known haunted houses in the state resides in Pontiac – Erebus. It has four floors and was in the Guinness World Record Book as the world’s largest haunted house from 2005-2009. You should also check out Scarefest Screampark – they have 50 acres of scary things like a haunted forest and maze! Or you can try out being a ghost hunter with Haunted Detroit Tours.

What’s the best Halloween activity you have or will participate in?
